Rehabilitation work on sanitary sewer lines throughout Pierre begins today (Tues.).
The work may result in minor short-term traffic disruptions in the impacted areas. To limit traffic disruptions, work in high-traffic areas will be completed overnight.
The City will use cured in place pipe for the rehabilitation. This process extends the life of the sewer by correcting minor defects with a new sewer pipe lining. The product is fed through the lines via manholes and cured with steam once it’s in place, so streets don’t need to be dug up.
The rehabilitation work is scheduled to be complete by July 12.
Rehabilitation locations are determined by annual maintenance reports and projected street construction projects. This summer, the City will reline approximately 8,600 feet of sanitary sewer.
