PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor volleyball team had their two game winning streak end on Thursday night as they dropped a 3-1 decision to Huron in the final game of the regular season at Riggs High Gym. Huron won by scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-12, 25-16. Josi Stephens again led the Governors at the net recording a team high 10 kills while Emry Heiss and Kenzie Gronlund each had 6 apeice. Kenzie Kuxhause had a team high 35 digs and Miah Kienholz had 26 assists. In addition Heiss and Gronlund had 4 blocks apeice at the net. Mikenna Moore and Brooke Schiltz led the way for Huron with 10 kills apiece and Libby Rounds had 9. Haryn Heinz had 34 digs and Tenley Buddenhagen led the way with 41 assists. Heinze also had 8 serving aces on the match for Huron. The Governors finish the regular season with a 8-12 record and will be the 12th seed in next week’s SoDak 16 playoff. The Governors will travel to 5th seed Sioux Falls Roosevelt next Thursday. The Governors dropped a 3-1 verdict to Roosevelt when the two teams played each other back in September.
