PIERRE, SD – Carol Jenner-Hinkley, 68, of Pierre, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Avera-Maryhouse. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm Friday February, 1, 2019 at Feigum Funeral Home, concluding with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30am, Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Feigum Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery, Iroquois, South Dakota on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 1:00pm.
Carol Denise Jenner was born November 18, 1950 in Miller, SD to Virginia M. (Hoogestraat) Jenner and Irving E. Jenner. She graduated from Miller High School in 1969 and attended National College of Business in Rapid City for a year.
She stopped in Pierre on the way home in 1970 and applied for a job with the State Social Services Dept. She got the job and stayed with the Department for 43 years finally working as a Quality Control Specialist.
She was a very avid bowler for many years. She played fast pitch softball with a very recognized Chateau Bar Team from Ft. Pierre.
She lived in Pierre and Ft. Pierre with a few roommates until she and Dave got together in 1987 and went for her first motorcycle ride. That turned into a lifelong passion and a lifelong relationship also.
She and Dave were married October 11, 2008 on the 21st anniversary of their first date. She and Dave motorcycled avidly from 1992 until they retired in 2013. She rode her own bike often and on longer trips rode with Dave. After they retired they bought a 5th wheel camper and traveled extensively only missing 9 states of the lower 48.
She did a lot of crafting especially Counted Cross Stitch, Stained Glass and the last few years concentrated on Quilting. She made many quilts and gave them to stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many family members. She was just starting to make quilts for Quilts of Valor which gives them to Veterans.
She was known all her life as Jenner not Carol. By a group of close friends and family she was known as Tidy because of her passion for neat and cleanliness and her amazing talent for organization.
She is survived by her husband David Hinkley of Pierre and her brother Terry Jenner and his wife Beverly of Coleman, SD. She is also survived by four stepchildren, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four nephews and their families and many many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father Irving in 2004 and her mother Virginia in 2016.
