PIERRE, S.D. – Eight members of Pierre Swim Team competed this past weekend at the 2018 Scheels Independence Day Invite, held at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls. The meet was prelim/finals for ages 13 and over and timed finals for 12 and under. The highlight from the weekend was a new state record for a member of the Pierre Swim Team. Ella Ward-Zeller swam a time of 1:06.18 in the 100 meter backstroke, breaking the old record of 1:06.30 set in 2013 by Molly Hogg from the Aberdeen Swim Club. Ella’s time was a personal best and a AAAA time. She won this event, along with the 200 meter backstroke and 100 meter butterfly, both of which were AAA times.
