FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) If you’re looking for something to do in the Fort Pierre and Pierre areas this weekend, you won’t have to look far. Besides events at the Casey Tibbs South Dakota Rodeo Center and the Dakota Western Heritage Festival, there will be chance to check out some local historical highlights. Fort Pierre Mayor Gloria Hanson says the community is celebrating 125 years of statehood with tours of Sansarc School. She also says the Verendrye Museum will also be open both tomorrow and Sunday.
The Pierre/Fort Pierre area is also hosting the State’s 125th Birthday Party Volkswalk the next few days as South Dakota’s three volkssport associations will hold five walking events in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area to commemorate the state’s 125th birthday.
