It was a historic weekend for Pierre’s track team at both the Howard Wood Relays and the nearby O’Gorman Invitational. For starters, Kali Ringstemeyer was selected to compete in the Howard Wood Special Event, a selected event each year that athletes must be nominated and selected to participate in. The Govs also saw Kaden Cumbow win the Special Olympics heat for the 100 meter dash. At the Howard Wood Relays, the Governors had three event champions, several top 4 place winners, and one new school record established. We had some amazing performances! GIRLS
400 m dash à Charlee Wiliams-Smith – 1st (55.70). This time ranks in the top 10 in South Dakota history
200 m dash (Special Event ) à Kali Ringstmeyer – 5th (24.77) – 5th. This time ranks in the top 10 in South Dakota history
100 m dash à Kali Ringstmeyer – 2nd (11.95); In semi-finals, Kali ran 11.77 which ranks in the top 10 in South Dakota history
4 x 100 m relay à Emlyn Swanson, Charlee Williams-Smith, Brooke Hansen, and Kali Ringstmeyer – 2nd (48.86) which re-broke school record set earlier in the season.
4 x 200 m relay à Lennix Dupris, Emlyn Swanson, Josephine Wurtz, and Charlee Williams-Smith – 3rd (1:44.96)
4 x 400 m relay à Lennix Dupris, Emlyn Swanson, Emery Larson, and Charlee Williams-Smith – 3rd (4:02.34)
BOYS
Medley relay à Carson Stoeser, Carter Schiefelbein, Eladio Simental, and Caleb Morris – 1st (3:29.26). This time breaks the school record and ranks the #3 in South Dakota history
Javelin à Colter Babcock – 1st (173’01”) – 1st. This distance re-breaks the school record set by Colter last year and ranks in the top 10 in South Dakota history
4 x 100 m relay à Karson Walti, Eladio Simental, Carter Schiefelbein, and Carson Stoeser – 4th (43.31)

The Pierre track and field team will be hosting the Little Govs track and field meet on Tuesday, May 6th. Registration begins at 5:30 at Hollister Field with the meet beginning at 6:00.
The next meet for the Governors will be Friday, May 9th in Aberdeen.
