VERMILLION, S.D. – Stanley Umude scored a season-high 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting to lead South Dakota to an 85-72 win over Western Illinois Wednesday night inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. South Dakota also got 16 points from Tyler Hagedorn and 15 points from Triston Simpson. Western Illinois (5-17, 2-10) was led by Kobe Webster with 29 points. The win avenges an earlier loss to the Leathernecks back in late December and moves the Coyotes a half game back of North Dakota State and South Dakota State atop the Summit standings. South Dakota (19-8, 9-3 Summit) extends its win streak to eight games and stays unbeaten in conference play at home. It was the 10th win in 11 games for the Coyotes. The Coyotes travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Saturday to face Oral Roberts.
