The US Army Corps of Engineers has canceled its annual spring public meetings on Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir System operations, adhering to guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The meetings are normally held each spring and fall from Montana to Missouri.
Chief of the Corps’ Missouri Basin Water Management Division John Remus says they are evaluating different options for presenting the information to the public. He says spring meetings typically provide a status of mountain snowpack, a runoff forecast for the year and planned operations for the runoff year to meet the authorized purposes for the Missouri River Mainstem System.
The public meetings were originally scheduled for April 6-14. The meeting for the Pierre/Fort Pierre area had been scheduled for April 7.
