PIERRE SD – A two vehicle crash occurred on Fourth Street and Euclid Avenue in Pierre at 12:09 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
Tony Mangan, Public Information Officer with the SD Department of Public Safety informed DRG that a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac driven by a 16yr old male from Pierre was westbound on Fourth Street and came to a stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection of Fourth and Euclid.
A 2012 Chevy Impala driven by a 32yr old female was southbound on Euclid Avenue. The Sport Trac failed to yield the right of way, proceeded through the intersection and the two vehicles collided. The Sport Trac eventually rolled, coming to a rest on its roof. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Sport Trac received minor injuries and was checked by ambulance staff on scene – charges are pending against the driver.
The driver of the Impala had no injuries and no charges filed.
The Highway Patrol investigated. Others on scene were Pierre Police Department, Hughes County Sheriff’s Office and American Medical Response.
