DICKINSON, N.D. – The Pierre Trappers rallied scoring 2 runs in the top of the ninth inning and then held off the Badlands Big Sticks for a 17-16 win in Expedition League baseball play Tuesday night in Dickinson. The offense flowed all night for both teams. One day after Pierre pitchers shut out the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks twice, Badlands scored 11 runs in the first 3 innings. The Trappers scored multiple runs in 4 of the first 5 innings as the Trappers outhit the Big Sticks 22-17 in the game. Nate Altermatt and Matt Modeste each hit home runs for Pierre and both drove in 3 runs. Ryan Walstad homered for Badlands and had 3 RBI’s in the game. 5 Pierre pitchers worked in the game with Billy Moreland going the final 1.1 innings in picking up the win allowing 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 1. The Trappers win their third straight and improve to 7 and 9 on the season. The two teams play again in Dickinson tonight at 7:35 pm central time.
