Tours of the Sanson Ranch and Buffalo Jump Offered This Summer at Wind Cave National Park

By Diane Deis Jul 13, 2018 | 6:34 AM

Rangers at Wind Cave National Park will be offering tours of the Sanson Ranch and Buffalo Jump on Saturdays, beginning July 21 through August 11.

These three-hour, free tours of the Sanson Ranch and Buffalo Jump are approximately 1.5 miles long, moderately strenuous, and will explore a historic bison jump and homestead. Participants should meet at the park visitor center at 8:45 a.m. dressed for the weather with water, sunscreen, hiking shoes, and insect repellent. Participants will then car caravan out to the Sanson Ranch.

Participants will be able to travel over the road recently improved by the South Dakota National Guard during its annual Golden Coyote training exercise.  Materials for the road improvement were funded by the Friends of Wind Cave National Park.

For more information, call the park at (605) 745-4600.
