ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – South Dakota high school rodeo athletes were unable to hoist any championship gold buckles at the 2014 National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., on Saturday night as the week long rodeo came to a close. Team South Dakota’s had a sixth-place finish in the overall team standing as they finished sixth in boys and seventh in girls. Team Oklahoma swept the boys’ and girls’ titles. South Dakota finished ahead of neighboring states Wyoming which was 10th, Nebraska which was 13th and Montana which finished 14th in the overall team standings. Individually, Rapid City’s Shane O’Connell and Meadow’s Trig Clark posted top 10 finishes in boys all-around, fifth and seventh respectively.
