Three additional female inmates who left a South Dakota Women’s Prison minimum-security unit in Pierre Monday night (March 23) are back in custody.
Inmates Carly Schoneman, Alice Richards and Kayla Lamont were apprehended in Pierre yesterday (Wed.) evening.
Inmates Philomene Boneshirt and Sylvia Red Leaf remain on escape status. The public is asked to contact their local law enforcement immediately if you see them or know of their whereabouts.
The nine inmates who walked away were in the same unit as an inmate who tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.
However, COVID-19 isn’t the only disruption at the South Dakota Women’s Prison this week.
Warden Wanda Markland resigned abruptly and left the position Tuesday. Darren Berg has been named interim warden.
