Semi-Truck Damaged in Collision with Train Bridge Saturday

PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) A truck driven by an Eagan, Minnesota driver spent a few extra hours in Pierre over the weekend after it struck the train bridge on Saturday.   Hughes County Sheriff Mike Leidholt says the rig was northbound on Pierre Street about 6:20 p.m. Saturday and the driver didn’t note the flashing lights indicating that the truck was over the maximum height before it hit the bridge.  The semi sustained about $20,000 damage.  The truck is registered to a leasing company out of Phoenix, Arizona.  The driver was identified as 29-year-old Herve Simo-Kwuissu.  Authorities spent about 3 ½ hours at the scene of the accident and there was no damage to the bridge.
