West 2nd Street in Pierre between Capitol Avenue and Edgewater Drive will close today (Tues.) for water main replacement.
Weather permitting, this block is expected to remain closed through Nov. 13. Local access will be maintained throughout the project. Through traffic should detour to Edgewater Drive during construction.
The City is working to replace the aging water main to prevent a break this winter.
The City of Pierre maintains more than 100 miles of water main.
