SDSU Loses to Fort Wayne on Mercy Rule

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne put together three four-run innings, salvaging the final game of a four-game Summit League baseball series with a 12-2, seven-inning victory over South Dakota State Sunday afternoon.  The Mastodons held a narrow 8-7 advantage in hits, but five SDSU pitchers uncharacteristically combined to walk eight batters and hit five others.  SDSU’s seven hits came from only three players – Al Robbins was 3-for-3, while Johnson and Jacobson each tallied two hits.  Tyler Shannon pitched into the third inning before giving up 4 runs and took the loss.  The Mastodons improved to 15-23 overall and 7-5 in The Summit League. SDSU, which won the first three games in the series, dropped to 20-18 overall, 5-5 in league play.
