The South Dakota Legislature wrapped up this year’s session by passing about a $4.7 billion budget for the state.
District 24 representative Mary Duvall says the budget is for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018.
Duvall says when looking at the general fund, it’s sales tax money that everyone pays.
Duvall says she was happy to see state employees, schools and community support providers all end up getting more money.
If needed, legislators will return to Pierre March 26 to take action on any vetoes by Gov. Daugaard.
