CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. – Chamberlain captured the girls team title and Miller took the boys team title of the Region 6A Track and Field meet Thursday in Chamberlain. Stanley County was second in the boys and 4th in the girls division that was the last chance for athletes to qualify for the State Track and Field meet next weekend in Sioux Falls. Chamberlains MaKenzie Sorenson qualified for the state meet in 3 events winning the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes for the best day on the track for any girl athlete. Tori Jones of Stanley County qualified winning the 300 meter hurdles and running a leg on the winning 4×100 meter relay team. Mady Handel of Chamberlain won both the Shot Put and Discus while Stanley Counties Kalyssa Smith finished second and qualified in the Shot Put. J.D. Carter of Stanley County qualified in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and the Stanley County 4×800 meter relay team qualified as did Damon Hoftizer who won both the Shot Put and Discus. The State Track and Field meet will be held next Friday and Saturday in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area.
