SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Pierre U18 Fastpitch Softball team won a second youth fastpitch girls tournament title for Pierre Sunday at the ASA State Youth Fastpitch Softball Tournament in Sioux Falls. The Pierre U18 squad downed Tabor 8-1 in the title game of the Under “C” Division. Pierre opened the tournament on Friday with a 6-4 win over Platte and then followed that up with a 8-2 win over the Brandon Valley Stingers. On Saturday, Pierre downed Burke 8-2 and then defeated the Tabor squad 2-0 in Sunday’s semi finals before losing to Tabor 8-5 in the first championship game of the double elimination tournament. They then beat Tabor in the second and deciding game for the State title. Pierre also beat Tabor for a State Title in Sioux Falls in 2016.
Pierre also had a team playing in the U16 Under State tournament. The Pierre squad won their opening game of the tournament on Friday downing the Assault 10-0 before the Rapid City Adrenaline recorded a 10-2 win. Pierre won two games on Saturday downing the Harrisburg Adrenaline 23-1 and the Assault 7-5. But Pierre was outscored 14-8 by the Rapid City Adrenalline on Sunday to be eliminated from the tournament.
