PIERRE, S.D. – Six Pierre Swim Team athletes were selected to compete as part of Team South Dakota at the 2019 MW Midwest All Stars meet in Elkhorn. Teams from North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa competed during this two-day meet at the Elkhorn Common Ground. Each team is allowed to bring 60 athletes, and the athletes must meet qualifying standards. EllaWard-Zeller’s 200 yard backstroke was her top finish and the top finish of the Pierre squad in the meet, placing fifth with a AAA time of 2:09.42. She also broke a team record in the 200 yard breaststroke, swimming a personal best and AA time at 2:33.96, beating the old record of 2:37.45 set by Ashley Theobald in 2013.

Another 39 Pierre Swim Team athletes competed at the 2019 Aquastorm Category 5 Swim Meet held in Bismarck January 18-20, 2019. Pierre Swim Team had five high points winners: Elle Stagg, Charlie Hull, Gunner Jones and Caleb Huizenga all won their division. David Stagg placed second overall in the boys 13-14 division. Pierre Swim Team will have athletes competing on both sides of the state this weekend. Ten PST swimmers will compete at the 2019 SFST January Invite in Sioux Falls at the Midco Aquatic Center and 24 will compete at the Spearfish Pentathlon held at Black Hills State University.
