Pierre Soccer Teams Split Games in Mitchell


MITCHELL, S.D. – The Pierre Lady Governor soccer team secured a home game for their first round matchup in the upcoming playoffs with a 8-0 win over Mitchell Tuesday night in Mitchell. The win improved the Lady Gov record to 6-1-2 and they sit in third in the high school standings with 2 games left to play. Pierre would also get a bye in the first round. Emily Mikkelsen and Joanna Zanin once again led the Lady Govs. The Pierre Governor soccer fortunes continue to go south as they were shutout by Mitchell on Tuesday night 1-0. It was the 6th time in 10 games that the Governors could not find the net and score a goal. Pierre’s record slipped to 1-7-1 on the season. The Govs and Lady Govs will host Sioux Falls Roosevelt Saturday at the Pierre Indian Learning Center Soccer fields. The will then wrap up the regular season hosting Brookings a week from Thursday.
