The Pierre School District is suspending all activities starting at 4pm today (March 13) and until April 1.
Supt. Dr. Kelly Glodt says they’re following guidance from the state Departments of Health and Education. He says at this time, school remains in session for students and staff.
Glodt says the district already has many protocols in place due to cold and flu season, but cleaning and disinfecting efforts have been increased. He says if your child is sick, please keep them at home.
Suspended activities include:
- All student activity travel outside of the district
- Athletic activities and fine arts performances/concerts in our buildings (athletic/fine arts practices will continue as normal)
- Any non-school related use of Pierre School District facilities
- Field trips
- Community access to our buildings (volunteers, non-district personnel)
- Parents will have restricted building access with the exception of normal pick-up/drop-off routines
The South Dakota Department of Heath has established the website covid.sd.gov to provide updated information about COVID-19 in the state.
