PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Athletic Coaches Association (PACA) has named their Riggs High School Avera Athletes of the Week. State Champion golfer Austin Hoss and the State Champion Lady Governor Soccer team earned the award this week. Hoss set a new State Class AA record in winning the state individual title on the Hillsview Golf Course last Tuesday. He had a two round total 137 to beat the previous record by 1 stroke. The Lady Govs defeated Sioux Falls O’Gorman 3-0 in the state championship game on Saturday, October 7, 2017. They controlled the game from the beginning and possessed the ball well over two thirds of the match. The defense also put in a dominating performance such that their opponent had only two legitimate shots on goal. It was a dominating victory and is the first ever girls soccer state championship for Pierre high school.
