O’Gorman’s Cartwright Named Gatorade Player of the Year in State


CHICAGO – Sioux Falls O’Gorman senior guard Matt Cartwright was named the South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year.  Cartwright, who led O’Gorman to the state Class AA championship Saturday, averages 20.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assist per game this season.  He also maintained a 3.77 grade point average in the classroom has signed a letter of intent to attend Augustana to continue his collegiate basketball career beginning next year.  The Gatorade award recognizes both athletic and academic achievement.  He also is a devoted member of his church community and has volunteered locally for the Kids Against Hunger youth basketball program.
