Kernels Sweep Lady Govs


PIERRE, S.D. – The Mitchell Kernels ran their winning streak to 10 straight and they have won 25 sets in a row following last nights sweep of the Pierre Lady Governors at Riggs High Gym. The Lady Govs dropped the 3 set match to Mitchell by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-23. The Kernels were on the offensive all night long and were led kills by McKenzie Miller with 11 and Chelsea Brewster with 10. The Lady Govs got a team high 9 kills from Erica Stout and 8 from sophomore Kodi Severyn. Carly Hannig had 4 Block points for the Kernels and Miller led Mitchell with 18 digs. Stout had a team high 6 digs for the Lady Govs while Cayley Busch and Emry Heiss each had 3 blocks defensivly. Sage Jorgenson had a match high 4 aces for Mitchell while Stout had 2 for Pierre. Hallie Gronlund had 10 assists for the Lady Govs while Mandy Schmidt had 30 for the Kernels who improved to 10 and 0 on the season. Pierre falls to 3 and 6 and will host Yankton on Friday night at Riggs High Gym.
