ONIDA, SD – Janet Rae (Morford) Rivenes, 75, of Onida, died on June 26, 2019 after a long battle with COPD. Public Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Feigum Funeral Home followed by a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm. A private family service and burial will be held with burial at the Onida Cemetery.
Janet (Janny) was born on December 18, 1943, to Ivan and LaVerna (Bucheim) Morford in Highmore, South Dakota. Janny attended Illinois Country School through 8th grade, several years at Harrold High School, graduating from Highmore High School in 1962.
On September 24, 1962, she married Ronald Rivenes from Onida. To this union, three children were born, Kenny, Dennis and Vicki. They lived in Harrold, Blunt, and South Shore, before moving to Omaha in 1967. In 1975, Ron and Janny took over the farming operation from his parents and returned to Onida, where she lived until her death. Janny was not just a farm wife, she was a partner, working side-by-side with her husband and sons.
Janny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had many new and exciting experiences (zip lining) with her grandson, Kenden. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and puzzle books. Visiting with family and friends was how she loved to spend her down time, her coffee pot was always on and her shoulder was always available to lean on.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ron Rivenes, daughter Vicki of Pierre, two sisters, Marlys (Jerauld) Salathe of New York Mills, MN, Janice (Donnie) of Minneapolis, MN. One step-sister, Linda (Rick) Gronner of Undwerwood, MN, two step-brothers Jerry (Bobbi) Kutz and Rick (Deb) Kutz of Bosier City, LA and the light of her life, grandson Kenden, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Morford, her mother and step-father, LaVerna & Carl Kutz. Two sons, Kenny and Dennis. One brother Marvin (Sonny) Morford, two half-brothers, Dean and Dale Morford, two half-sisters, Lois Hammil and Winnie Kopecky.
