PIERRE, S.D. – The two time defending State Class 11AA champion Pierre Governor football team will attempt to make it three in a row on Friday in Brookings as they disposed of the Mitchell Kernels 57-7 in a semi final game Friday night in Pierre. Garrett Stout scored on a 71 and 34 yard touchdown runs midway through the first quarter and early in the second and threw a pair of touchdown passes to Regan Bollweg as Pierre built a 34-0 halftime lead. The Governors got touchdown runs from Maquire Raske, Collin Brueggeman, Josh Rowe and Lincoln Kineholz and a 32 yard field goal from Carsten Miller as Pierre built a 50-0 lead before Mitchell scored their lone touchdown on a 70 pass from Trevor Vilhaur to Ryley Johansen midway through the 4th quarter. Pierre had just under 600 yards of total offense in the game and close to 400 yards in the air. But Pierre stumbled a bit committing 14 penalties for nearly 100 yards. The Governors will play the Brookings Bobcats on Friday at noon in Brookings at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on the campus of South Dakota State and on Brookings home field.
