RAPID CITY – For the first time in five years, Pierre Governor Volleyball is 2-0 to start the season. Saturday, the Governors won in four sets over Stevens, 25-21, 27-25, 22-25, 25-21. Ayvrie Kaiser led Pierre with 20 kills, including 10 in the deciding fourth set. Raegan Wiebe added nine kills and Kenzie Gronlund had seven. Gronlund also had two blocks, both in the final set.
Pierre won at Stevens for the first time since 2015 and for only the third time in their last 18 matches against the Raiders. The Governors will be on the road again Thursday at Mitchell. HARRISBURG – Pierre Governor Soccer split Saturday results.
The Governor boys broke through for their first win of the season, drubbing Harrisburg 7-0. Nate Leiferman and Rylan Derry both scored three times for Pierre and Cole Peterson scored once. Governor boys soccer is now 1-3.
Harrisburg routed the Governor girls 6-1 to drop Pierre to 0-4.
Both teams will be at home for Labor Day weekend against the Rapid City schools, playing Stevens Friday and Central Saturday at the Pierre Indian Learning Center Soccer Complex.

RAPID CITY – Governor Girls Tennis fell 5-4 Saturday to Rapid City Christian in their final dual of the three-day Rapid City Invitational.

ABERDEEN – Pierre Competitive Cheer/Dance began its season Saturday at the Hub City Invitational in Aberdeen. The cheer team finished 12th, while the dance team was fourth. Both teams will next compete Tuesday at Watertown. On Saturday of Labor Day weekend, Pierre will host their invitational at the Riggs High gym.
