MITCHELL, S.D. – The Pierre-Ft. Pierre Capitals boys varsity hockey team scored 4 3rd period goals Friday night as they closed out their regular season with a 5-1 win over the Mitchell Marlins in South Dakota high school league play in Mitchell. Landon Badger’s goal at the 8 minute mark of the second period game the Capitals a 1-0 lead going into the final period. Badger scored twice in the third period for a hat trick and Peter Sanchez scored twice for the Capitals in the period. Goaltender Matt Pease made 39 saves in net as the Capitals outshot the Marlins 57-40 in the game. The Capitals end the regular season with a 12-4-0 record and currently are in second place, 3 points ahead of Sioux Falls Blue who have two games remaining in the regular season. After a weekend off next weekend, the Capitals will play in the State Tournament in Brookings March 13, 14 and 15.
