WASHINGTON, D.C. – (DRG News) Governor Dennis Daugaard is expected to return to South Dakota this evening after attending the 2014 National Governors Association Winter Meeting. Governors from across the nation convened in Washington, D.C. for the meeting which was held over the weekend. NGA Chair Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and NGA Vice Chair Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper addressed attendees during an opening news conference Saturday morning-saying that Governors across the country are making government work every day. She said the hope is that federal partners will do their part and take action. The weekend included meetings of the organization’s Natural Resources Committee, the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee and Sunday night brought the annual White House dinner during which President Barack Obama told the Governors that their cooperation is vital-especially when dealing with a Congress that’s having a “difficult time acting”. A governors-only meeting with the President was held this morning.
