SIOUX FALLS – The first trip to the State A Boys Basketball Tournament in 11 years for the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves got off to a rough start, as they were beaten by St. Thomas More 41-25 in the first round Thursday. The Braves managed to hit on only nine of 37 shot attempts for the game and were outscored 27-12 in the second half, as they will now play Tri-Valley in the first consolation semifinal game today at noon ( on Dakota Radio Group’s Star99 FM). Creighton LeBeau scored a game-high 12 points and Jeffrie Shaving nine to lead the Braves, but the story of the game had to be leading scorer Xavier Norris being held scoreless. St. Thomas More will play Madison in the first semifinal game Friday evening in a match-up between two teams who have won seven of the last eight State A Championships.
