Betty was born on August 29, 1949, in Mobridge, South Dakota, to Ted and Dorothy Manke. She spent her childhood on the family farm, attending school in Selby. After high school, Betty attended SDSU receiving a Nursing Degree. During her long nursing career, Betty worked in hospitals, as a school nurse and as a pediatric home health care nurse in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. To show her care and concern for others less fortunate, Betty went on two mission trips, one to Puerto Rico and one to Haiti. After retiring, Betty moved to Aberdeen, to be closer to family. Most recently, Betty resided in Pierre to be closer to her sister, Mary.

Betty adored her niece and nephews; Kristine, Mark, and Jason. When they were little, Betty would make time to take them on adventures and played an important part in their childhood. As they grew older, she was always following the stories of their families and enjoying her time as a great aunt to their nine children. She was interested in their well being and loved seeing pictures of the little ones as they grew.

Betty was a dedicated Christian and devoted her life to Jesus. She always did her best to share her beliefs and what it meant to be a Christian. Betty was a cat lover and enjoyed her cats through the years. Betty was kind, caring and giving. She will be remembered as a gentle, thoughtful and considerate person. You could always count on her to remember your birthday and sing happy birthday to you on the phone. Betty enjoyed traveling, photography, sewing, reading and spending time with those she loved and cared about.

Betty is survived by her sister, Mary (Jay) Livermont of Pierre, SD; nephew, Mark (Alysia) Livermont of Sioux Falls, SD; niece, Kristine (Andrew) Harvey of Rapid City, SD; and nephew, Jason (Ashley) Livermont of Dakota Dunes, SD. She is also survived by 9 great nephews and nieces; Collin, Evelyn, Jacob and Joey Livermont; Bennett, Jackson and Jordyn Harvey; and Brody and Coyer Livermont; and an aunt, Marge Berndt of Aberdeen, SD; and several cousins. Betty has joined her parents in heaven, Ted and Dorothy Manke, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her grandparents, Albert and Dora Manke and Herman and Pearl Erbe.
