Avera earned the highest level of recognition as a Level 10 “Most Wired” health care organization from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives in its 2019 program.
Avera was one of three health systems in the nation eligible for Level 10 status and the only health system east of the Rockies to earn this honor. The recognition marks the 20th time Avera was included in the survey as a top performer.
In 2018, Avera was named among the Top 10, ranked at No. 5, and received the “advanced” designation in 2017.
CHIME’s Most Wired list aims to recognize health care organizations that have adopted and leveraged technology to improve patient safety and outcomes in the industry.
Avera Chief Information Officer Jim Veline says Avera’s history of Most Wired awards as well as their latest designation as part of the top three, proves they are an industry leader. He says Avera has developed a strong culture of innovation that benefits their patients.
CHIME reviewed more than 16,000 organizations internationally, which included separate surveys for domestic, ambulatory and international facilities. The surveys examined the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care, including the use of electronic medical records.
Based on their survey responses, each participating organization received an overall score plus scores for individual levels in information technology capabilities including infrastructure, security, business continuity/disaster recovery, administrative supply chain, analytics/data management, interoperability/population health, patient engagement and clinical quality/safety.
