NEW ORLEANS – Eleven member of Augustana’s cross country teams have earned All-Region awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Athletes of member schools that finished in the top 25 individually at one of the eight regional sites in last weekend’s NCAA Championships received the recognition.
Coach Tracy Hellman guided the Augustana men’s and women’s teams to Central Region titles Saturday in Joplin, Mo. It was the first region crown for the women, and the second for the men. Augustana men also won a region title in 1991. All-Region honors for the men went to Travis Beniak, Adam Braun, T. J. Gleason, Nathan Hauge, Harald Karbo, and Paul Yak. The Vikings won the Central Region with 31 points. Beniak was the individual champion, Braun finished second, Yak third, Hauge 10th, Krabo 11th, and Gleason 18th. Women’s All-Region citations went to Leah Black, Kyle Blakeslee, Kristin Brondbo, Runa Falch, and Annie Pfeifle. Falch won the individual crown with Black third, Brondbo fifth, Blakeslee 10th, and Pfeifle 12th. The Vikings finished with 29 points.
