PIERRE, S.D. – A 22-year-old male died late Sunday night in a one-vehicle crash north of Pierre.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. He was the only person involved in the crash.
A 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was eastbound on 202ND Street (also known as Holly Road) approaching the intersection of Grey Goose Road when the driver lost control. The vehicle went across the center line, then back onto the right side of road before it rolled.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were Hughes County Sheriff’s Office, Stanley County Sheriff’s Office and Pierre Police Department.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
