FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) 2014 Prairie Winds 4-H Achievement Days is only a few days away. This year, Achievement Days has returned to the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre. Following Sunday’s set up-events will take place Monday and Tuesday-according to Mark Rowen who is the local 4-H Youth Program Advisor.
Rowen says there are a number of static and livestock exhibits expected.
Those 4-H’ers who qualify in various categories at local Achievement Days events across the state get the opportunity to move on to the State Fair.
Rowen invites the public to come to the Fairgrounds and take in Achievement Days activities. He also says anyone interested in joining 4-H is also welcome to find out more through the local Extension office.
Rowen has been the 4-H Youth Program Advisor since January 2012. He says he’s impressed with the support provided for local 4-H’ers and says central South Dakota has a fantastic 4-H program for youngsters. He says there are 12 4-H clubs in this area, including a few shooting sports clubs. Club membership numbers vary from year to year. The 4-H year starts the first of October and the State Fair brings the final 4-H competition for each year. Check out the Achievement Days schedule through DRGNews.com at:
