PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Rattlers amatuer baseball team begins Region tournament play Saturday when they travel to Mitchell to attempt to qualify for next week’s Class A Amatuer baseball tournament. Pierre will open against the Vermillion Red Sox tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm. The Red Sox are not an unfamiliar team to the Rattlers as player-head coach Tyson Lindekugel says the two squads have played each other in past state tournaments.
The winner of tomorrow’s game will turn around and play at approximatly 5 pm against the winner of tonight’s Mitchell and Yankton game with the winner of that game automatically qualifying for the State A Tournament. The loser will play two elimination games on Sunday. Coach Lindekugel says no matter who Pierre plays it will be a qualify opponet and the Rattlers will have bring their A game.
Two teams will advance to the State A Amatuer tournament next week in Renner and two teams will see their season come to an end.
