PIERRE, S.D. – Hillsview Golf Course will be hosting the South Dakota Golf Association Two Woman State tournament Saturday and Sunday. It is the first adult State Championship tournament at Hillsview since the course was shutdown due to the flood of 2011. Hillsview Golf Pro Caryn Hayn says the tournament marks the continuing comeback of Hillsview from the flood..
Hillsview hosted the Class AA girls state golf tournament this spring and the 44 two women teams that will be competing in the tournament and Hayn hopes it will be the first of many returning SDGA State tournaments to Hillsview.
Hillsview was a popular stop for SDGA tournaments prior to 2011 and since reopening last year, that popularity is coming back.
The tournament will tee off at 7:40 am Saturday morning and that will be the case again on Sunday. Because of that, Hayn says the course will be closed to the public at times both days.
The tournament has an Open Flight, a Net First Flight and a Senior Net Flight. South Dakota State golfers Hallie Getz of Pierre and Megan Mingo of Yankton make up one of the teams in the Open Flight. The 36 hole tournament will decide it’s champion early Sunday afternoon.
