Terry PenlandTerry S. Penland, age 55, of Le Sueur, Minnesota, died October 12, 2013, suddenly, while working in his garden.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014, at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip, with Father Kevin Achbach officiating.

 

Terry was born on July 26, 1958 to DeLos and Dorothy (Beardsley) Penland in Angola, Indiana. He grew up in the Hamilton, Indiana area graduating from Hamilton High School in 1977. He received his Chemical Engineer Degree from Purdue University in 1982 and his Electrical Engineering Degree from Colorado University in 1987. He married Janet Patton on September 2, 1989 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip, South Dakota.

He began a long career with Dow Chemical Company in January of 1988 retiring in 2007. Terry enjoyed tennis, basketball, carpentry, windsurfing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Janet; Parents, DeLos & Dorothy Penland of Hamilton, Indiana; Siblings, Kathy (Toby) Meyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Steven (Marilyn) Penland of Chicago, Illinois; Parents-in-law; Leo & Joan Patton of Philip, South Dakota and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark and sister-in-law, Cathy Knight.
