PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Rattlers amateur baseball team finished the regular season with a 8 and 4 record on Saturday and now they head to Regional Tournament action this coming weekend in Mitchell. It has been frustrating for Pierre Player Head Coach Tyson Lindekugel this season in the fact that over half of the Rattlers regular season games were either cancelled or rained out making it tough for some players.
The four teams in the Region tournament are the host team Mitchell, Vermillion, Yankton and Pierre. Pierre will play Vermillion in the first round on Saturday at 2 pm while Mitchell and Yankton play in the tournament opener Friday evening. The two winners of the first round will play at 5 pm on Saturday for the right to advance to the State Class A amateur tournament as the Region Championship. The two losers of the first round games will play Sunday in an elimination game with the winner of that game advancing to a second elimination game against the team that lost the 2nd game of the tournament on Saturday. The top two teams in the Region qualify for the State Class A Amateur tournament that will be played in Renner and Mitchell. Pairings for the Region tournament have not been made.
