PIERRE, S.D. - Despite outscoring their opponents 56-15 in five games, the Pierre Fastpitch 16U team had to be content with the runner-up trophy at the State ASA B/C Tournament for the West Division. PFP dropped their opening game of the double-elimination tournament by a 7-5 score to the Black Hills Rebels. They then cranked the offense up by defeating the Pierre Sluggers 12-0 and 24-2 over the Pierre Lemmonheads. PFP advanced to the championship game with a 13-1 win over Winner. But the championship game, a rematch with the Black Hills Rebels saw the bats go quiet and the Rapid City team recording a 4-1 win over PFP for their second victory over the Pierre squad and the State West 16U title. Sammi Bahe pitched in 3 of the games striking out 12 and allowing 17 hits. Abby Keith pitched in two of the games and was the winning pitcher in both. Pierre Fastpitch 16U finishes the summer with 10 wins and 12 losses in non-league games. The squad was unbeaten in local league games and won their division of the city tournament for the second year in a row.
