PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Rattlers amateur baseball team has struggled to get games in this season. They have a 6-4 record but have had 11 games either rained out or cancelled over the course of the season. They are scheduled to face Aberdeen Circus Lounge Saturday in a 1 pm doubleheader at Hyde Stadium that will bring an end to the regular season. But the post season will go on as scheduled and this year the Rattlers are in a new region. Last year they were in the Black Hills Region with the Rapid City amateur teams. This season they are in a region that includes Aberdeen, Castlewood and Mitchell. The region tournament will be played in Mitchell at Cadwell Park and is scheduled to begin on August 1st and wrap up on August 3rd with the championship game. The top two teams in each region qualify for the State Class A amateur tournament which this year will have the first weekend played in Renner. The second weekend will be played in Mitchell. Saturday’s doubleheader with Aberdeen can be accessed on the Dakota Radio Group website www.drgnews.com.
