CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. – Wessington Springs and Miller each finished the Pony Hills Amateur baseball league standings with a 10-2 record and tied for the league championship this season. Four Corners and Plankinton were each 7 and 5 in league play to tie for third. Chamberlain finished 5 and 7 followed by Kimball-White Lake with a 3-9 record and Armour which was winless in 12 league games. The Pony Hills District of the State Class B Amatuer baseball tournament gets underway Thursday with the tournament hosted by Four Corners and played in Pierre at Hyde Stadium and at the Four Corners Field west of Hayes. Plankinton and Chamberlain will play their first game of the tournament Thursday night in Pierre at 8 pm. Miller faces Armour at 11 am and Four Corners takes on Kimball-White Lake at 1:30 pm at Four Corners Field. Wessington Springs, which earned the top seed in the tournament, will play the winner of Plankinton and Chamberlain at 4 pm Saturday at Four Corners Field. The tournament continues through a week from Thursday with the title game played at Hyde Stadium. The top 3 teams in that come out of the tournament will qualify for the State Class B Amateur Tournament in Mitchell.
