Fort Yates Man Facing 2 Federal Assault Charges

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A man is accused of a brutal beating on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation that left a woman hospitalized and on a ventilator.
Ryan Thunderhawk, of Fort Yates, is charged in federal court with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Witnesses say the victim was knocked unconscious three separate times in the July 6 attack.
The woman suffered a broken nose and several facial fractures.
A detention hearing in the case is scheduled Tuesday.
