South Dakota Moves Up in Standings at National Finals High School Rodeo

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. – Iona’s Erin Kenzy, a three time National High School Finals Rodeo participant in girls cutting, and Dupree’s Jana Hunt, a 16th-place finisher in pole bending in last year’s event, led the Team South Dakota charge on day four at the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs, Wyo.  Kenzy recorded the top score in both of her girls cutting rounds with a 145 in the morning and 144 in the evening, to take the lead in the average.  Hunt meanwhile scooted her mount through the pattern in 20.432 seconds, fourth best in the morning round and eighth in the final first round standings.  On the boys side, Trig Clark of Meadown currently holds down top-10 rankings in both the bareback with a sixth place finish on a 69-point ride and saddle bronc with a ride of 66 putting him in 8th place. In the team scoring, Team South Dakota held down the seventh spot overall after the first round with the girls standing sixth and the boys standing eighth. Team Texas is the first-round leader in overall and girls standings while Utah leads the boys.
