PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Volunteers are needed Wednesday, July 9 from 5-8 p.m. for the annual Missouri River/Lake Sharpe Clean Up. The event brings citizens and groups together to pick up litter and debris along the river. The items are then brought to Down’s Marina for proper disposal by the City of Pierre. This will be the 5th year the clean up has been held in the past six years. The four previous clean ups have removed over 10.5 tons of trash and debris from the river. Once again today, Paul Lepisto of the Izaak Walton League of American and Bret Afdahl of South Dakota Walleyes Unlimited visited with Scott Lane about the clean up.
