PIERRE, S.D. – Pierre Post 8 American Legion Baseball fans were treated to plenty of offense Sunday at Hyde Stadium as Post 8 and Huron split a doubleheader. Huron won the opening game 11-10 and Pierre took a slugfest in the nightcap prevailing 17-16. In the second game, Pierre scored in only 3 of the 7 innings played but they were 5-6 and 6 runs innings in the first, third and fifth. Pierre outhit Huron 12-10 with Nick Rabern leading the way with 3 hits and 4 RBI’s. Quinn Remiers drove in a pair of runs as every hit was a single. Pierre used 7 pitchers in the game with Nick Rabern, the 5th pitcher used, picking up the win. Quinn Reimers pitched 1.2 innings of hitless and scoreless relief to pick up the save. In the opener, Pierre scored 5 runs in the 7th inning but fell one run short in the 11-10 Huron victory. Pierre outhit Huron 15-8 but also had 6 errors defensivly. Rabern and Justin Berheim each had 3 hits in the game with each getting a triple and Alec Norwick belted a two run homer for Post 8. But Alex Gray allowed 7 runs and reliever Blake Dean gave up 4 runs in relief giving up 11 hits to Huron. With the doubleheader split, Pierre is now 12-16 on the season. On Saturday, Pierre downed Rapid City Post 320 by a 13-3 score.
