PIERRE, S.D.- The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball downed Watertown 6-5 in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday night in Pierre. But the nightcap belonged to Watertown as they downed Pierre 17-0. In the opener, Pierre had a pair of 3 run innings in the third and fifth inning as they overcame 4 errors but outhit Watertown 13-11 in the game. Alex Gray had two hits and 2 RBI’s for Pierre. Ben Leidholt and Cash Anderson also had 2 hits. Justin Berheim started and picked up the win allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. Quinn Reimers got the save pitching the final 1.2 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The nightcap was all Watertown as they pulled away with 6 runs in the fifth inning and 8 runs in the 7th. Watertown outhit Pierre 14-8 and Pierre had 3 more errors in the game. Tyson O’Daniel took the loss pitching the first 2.1 innings allowing 3 runs. Reimers and Alec Norwick each had 2 hits apiece for Post 8 which saw their record go to 10-15 on the season. Pierre will return to the field Saturday when they host Rapid City Post 320 in a 2 pm first pitch at Hyde Stadium.
