PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Volunteers are needed next week for the annual Missouri River/Lake Sharpe Clean Up. The event will be Wednesday, July 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will be based out of Down’s Marina in Pierre. Volunteers will pick up litter and debris along the river and bring it back to Down’s Marina for proper disposal by the City of Pierre. This is the fifth year for the clean up and the four previous efforts have removed over 10.5 tons of trash and debris from and along the river. If you’d like to volunteer, provide a boat or pontoon or donate funds or other items to the 2014 Missouri River/Lake Sharpe Clean Up, contact Paul Lepisto at 220-1219 or Bret Afdahl at 222-2972.
