PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Officials with South Dakota’s Game, Fish and Parks Department want to remind visitors to state parks to leave fireworks at home for the upcoming holiday weekend. Doug Hofer, State Parks Director says campgrounds are traditionally very busy with campers and other visitors enjoying the parks during the Independence Day period. Hofer says combining fireworks with large numbers of people can create a dangerous situation. He says discharging fireworks is prohibited on all lands owned or leased by the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks. The ban includes state parks, recreation areas, lakeside use areas, game production areas and nature areas.
